Marie-Josée's famous spinach squares, revealed! (version française, cliquer ici)

A classic Roy family gathering item. These are so perfectly delicious! 


  • Feta cheese (the size of a pound of butter)
  • Cream cheese (250g)
  • 1 pack of frozen cut spinach, well drained
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onions
  • ½ teaspoon fresh dill
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pack of phyllo dough (red pack)
  • ½ lb melted butter.


  • Crumble the feta cheese and mix in with other ingredients except for phyllo and butter
  • Unroll the phyllo and cut the sheets in two
  • Use one half for the bottom portion of the squares and use two sheets at a time
  • Baste with butter
  • Place filling on top of phyllo
  • Place other phyllo halves over top of bottom half and filling
  • Cut the squares before cooking
  • Bake at 350°for 45 minutes or until the phyllo is brown.
